WASHINGTON (Army News Service, June 16, 2016) -- In what has fast become a tradition during Army birthday week, 14 Soldiers raised their right hands and swore allegiance for another term of enlistment at a Pentagon ceremony hosted by the Army chief information officer/G-6.

Lt. Gen. Robert S. Ferrell, CIO, welcomed the standing-room-only crowd June 16, then addressed the families and re-enlisting Soldiers who represented the total Army force from the active, National Guard and Army Reserve.

"I am so proud to be here today to administer this ceremony," Ferrell said. "Of all the ceremonies taking place this week for our forces, this ceremony is the one I'm most proud to be a part of… as a matter of fact, this is the highlight of my career.

"Your decision to re-enlist is important to the Army; your decision is important to the nation and your decision is important to you and your family," Ferrell said, adding that family is the all-important factor in the health of the Army and the nation.

The general enlisted in the Army in 1977 following in his father's footsteps -- a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also has an uncle who landed in Normandy on D-Day and six siblings who served on active duty in all the service branches. Ferrell's son also served in the Army and he has several nieces and a nephew who are still serving in uniform.

"On behalf of the Army, I want to thank you for making the decision to serve and stay with us and believe me, I'm bursting with pride right now and I'm honored to have the opportunity to continue to serve alongside of you," he said.

"Our nation relies on the Army and our Soldiers to perform the most complex, challenging and demanding missions imaginable… you are the extraordinary examples of the drive, the strength, the selfless service and the patriotism that keep the United States strong -- thank you all."

The following Soldiers repeated the oath of enlistment administered by Ferrell:
