On Wednesday, more than 20 students from Smart Intermediate School in Davenport, Iowa visited the Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center to meet with Col. Don Wols, commander, RIA-JMTC to discuss military careers, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers and also receive a tour of the United States largest Arsenal.
During their time, Col. Wols discussed the different careers the military has to offer as well as talked about the benefits of a military career. Also, he discussed the importance the Rock Island Arsenal plays in defense of the Nation.
Following the discussion, the RIA-JMTC commander took the students on a walking tour of the factory that covered assembly operations, paint, small arms part production and machining.
