VICENZA, Italy (Feb. 12, 2016) -- The USO celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, and the center here is ready to honor its organization and service members and their families with a carnival.

According to Frances Jackson, center manager, USO Vicenza, the event will take place Feb. 27 from 3-6 p.m. at the Caserma Ederle Fitness Center.

"It's going to be a fun time, and we welcome military families in the community to come out and celebrate the USO's 75th birthday. This is truly an organization that gives back to service members and their families," said Jackson.

The carnival will host a variety of games, to include the Magic Cup Game, Ping Pong Bucket Toss, Can Toss, Duck Pond, Buried Treasure, Plinko, and more.

Food booths will include such carnival favorites as caramel corn, caramel apples and cotton candy. And, not to be outdone by sweet treats, several contests are being planned. The carnival features a blue ribbon pie contest, a jelly/jam contest, and a USO-themed craft contest. Anyone who wants more information about participating in one or more contest should contact Rebecca Womack at the USO via email, rwomack@uso.org, or phone, DSN 637-7156, comm. 0444-71-7156.

Individuals and organizations have the opportunity to participate in the carnival, Jackson said, by signing up to be responsible for running a game or booth. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who may want to get more involved in the Vicenza Military Community.

Many organizations have already volunteered their time, but there is still room for choice. At the time of publication, volunteers were still needed for face painting, to dress up as clowns, and to run the duck pond. Contact the USO for more information on how to get involved.
