ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Maj. Gen. Kevin O'Connell, commanding general, U.S. Army Sustainment Command, swore in the newest member of ASC's Inspector General's office at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, Jan. 26.

Master Sgt. Swain Riley, assistant IG, reported to Rock Island Arsenal three months ago from Camp Shelby, Mississippi, where he served as the First Army Academy chief of training. He has served in the Army for 23 years and has deployed three times; twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan.

"The IG is the eyes and ears of the commanding general and reports all issues directly to him," said Riley. "We assist the unit's civilians and Soldiers in obtaining answers to questions and requests when they encounter hurdles. We also provide the CG with information on how well the command is operating and make recommendations on shortcomings and updates on policy."

Riley was named the assistant IG after undergoing a strict screening process.
