YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea -- Area II community members started their holiday season with their annual tree lighting ceremonies held Nov. 30 for Yongsan Garrison and Dec. 4 for K-16.

Service members and their families gathered at the Yongsan Garrison Fire Station for their ceremony. The party then moved to Commiskey's Community Activity Center, where families welcomed Santa Claus and his elves who treated the children to candy canes and other sweets.

During the party, Timothy P. Higgs announced the winners of the "ugliest sweater" contest for both male and female contestants. In between announcements, children were centered on stage to sing familiar holiday songs.

Later that week, another Christmas tree was lit up at K-16. A small but harmonious concert was held by service members and the 8th Army band. Santa Claus didn't forget to stop by K-16 and lots of treats were given to children.
