FORT BENNING, Ga., (Sept. 30, 2015) -- The annual Fort Benning Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation fall flea market will be held from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at Stillwell Field in conjunction with the postwide yard sale.
"We host this event to bring great deals to the Fort Benning and surrounding communities, and as an opportunity for people to sell their belongings or merchandise," said Kirk Michael, DFMWR recreation specialist. "We especially encourage them to sell household items, handcrafted items, retail items or unwanted items that someone else might need."
To register as a vendor for the flea market at Stillwell Field, go to www.benningmwr.com. The cost is $10 for a 10x10 space or $25 for a 10x20 space. Tables are $8 and chairs are $1 per chair. Families are welcome to host yard sales on their lawns across post at no cost, and shoppers for the flea market and postwide yard sale can just show up and browse.
Anyone can attend the flea market as a vendor or shopper. The flea market will be held rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, the yard sale will be held Oct. 4.
"We would like everyone to know that they can attend this great event and it is open to the general public," Michael said. "There will a variety of items throughout post for purchase that you would never be able to find in one location anywhere else, so take advantage of the postwide yard sale and flea market."
