GRAFENWOEHR, Germany - Engineers from three countries are gathered at the 15th Engineer Battalion motor pool for ENFIRE training Sept. 14-18.
Instrument Set, Reconnaissance and Surveying, or ENFIRE, is a digital tool set that places the right tools in the hands of engineer Soldiers conducting tactical reconnaissance and construction projects and replaces the old analog Surveying Set, Military Field Sketching kit.
"ENFIRE training allows USAREUR Engineer Soldiers to execute improved digitally recorded route and infrastructure recons. This increases Engineer interoperability with our partners and allows us to share techniques. Ultimately, this training will enhance USAREUR's freedom of movement across Europe," said Maj. Aaron Hotard, U.S. Army Europe Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Engineer, project lead.
Soldiers from the 15th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Joint Multinational Training Command, 60th Engineer Geospatial Planning Cell, and engineer soldiers from both the British and German Armies are participating in the ENFIRE training.
The ENFIRE training was coordinated by the ODSENG and training is being provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
