FORT BENNING, Ga., (Sept. 9, 2015) -- The Cavalry and Armor Association will host the 2015 Gold Medallion Dinner to recognize and knight the Order of Saint George and Noble Patron of Armor recipients Sept. 15 at the RiverMill Event Center in Columbus as a part of the Maneuver Warfighter Conference.

The recipients of the Order of Saint George Gold Medallion, the highest award for members of the Army's mounted force, are retired Maj. Gen. Rob Goff, retired Command Sgt. Maj. Dennis Webster and Jody Harmon. The award is meant to honor recipients for their post-military career contributions to the Armor and military communities.

Goff's final assignment was deputy chief of staff for training, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.

After retiring from active duty, Goff worked in defense and focused on providing products and equipment for the military. He is active with the West Point Fifty Year class Affiliation Program and the cadet's ethics mentoring program.

Goff is a founding member of the Cavalry and Armor Heritage Foundation and serves on the board of advisors. He is currently charged with building a Cavalry and Amor Museum at Fort Benning and is the honorary colonel of the 4th Cavalry Regiment.

Goff said receiving this award has been a humbling experience.

"I am very grateful to the association for nominating me and to all of the previous recipients for selecting me," Goff said.

Goff said the award is a team effort.

"For the 50 years that I have been associated with the branch, both on active duty and in retirement, I have been associated with top-notch professionals as subordinates, peers and superiors," Goff said. "These people, along with the tremendous sacrifice and support of my wonderful wife and children, have made all that I have managed to accomplish both easy and fun. My heartfelt thanks goes out to each and every one who has ridden with me on this great journey."

Webster retired in 2002, with more than 30 years of active military service. He is employed as the executive director of the 1st Cavalry Division Association.

Webster serves on the Board of Governors of Central Texas/Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United States Army. He is the Secretary of the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance, a member of the Exchange Club of Copperas Cove, a member and past chairman of the Military Affairs Committee of Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board of the Cove House Emergency Homeless Shelter.

Webster said he is honored to be awarded the Gold Medallion.

"Knowing the names of many who have received this honor is humbling. I knew retired Command Sgt. Maj. Don Horn, who was a recipient of the Gold Medallion, from my time with the 11th ACR and from living down the street from him for several years," Webster said. "To be included with him and the other greats of Cavalry and Armor is a great honor."

Harmon was enlisted as a Cavalry scout when his drill sergeant discovered and confiscated his art portfolio during a locker inspection. He was impressed with Harmon's art and the portfolio eventually landed on the desk of Fort Knox's commanding general and chief of Armor, Maj. Gen. Thomas Tait. Tait was so impressed he assigned Harmon as art illustrator for ARMOR Magazine after his OSUT graduation.

Harmon contributed his personal time creating art for the Cavalry and Armor association, and the sale of his prints helped the association stay financially solvent. During the Iraq and Afghanistan wars many unit commanders commissioned Harmon to illustrate their unit's actions and his art currently hangs in the halls of many Armor and Cavalry organizations, including the Maneuver Center of Excellence east wing.

Harmon said being recognized for something he has loved doing for the past 27 years is incredible.

"It's both humbling and gratifying to know that my artwork has touched so many Soldiers and others," Harmon said. "I am grateful to the leaders along the way who helped make this continued opportunity possible. It is truly an honor to be counted among the other Gold Noble Patron recipients."
