GRAFENWÖHR, Germany (July 13, 2015) -- On a 2-day tour through the U.S. Army's training area in Bavaria, July 9-10, Maj. Gen. Salim Mustafa Kijuu, land force commander of the Tanzanian People's Defence Force, and Brig. Gen Zoma Mathik Kongo, director of operations for the TPDF, got a taste of the training capabilities available from the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command.

The visit served two purposes, it showcased the resources and capabilities that 7th Army JMTC can export in support of training exercises in Africa, as well as provide insight on how to further develop the capability of the Tanzanian training centers.

Accompanied by Maj. Gen. Darryl A. Williams, commander of U.S. Army Africa, Kijuu and Kongo saw and heard from training experts at JMTC's Combined Arms Training Center, Training Support Activity Europe, Grafenwoehr Training Area and the Noncommissioned Officers Academy, all located in Grafenwoehr, and from the Joint Multinational Readiness Center at Hohenfels, the U.S. Army's only overseas Combat Training Center.

This command sponsored visit was coordinated by USARAF on behalf of the U.S. Army. Command Sponsored Visits bring together senior land force commanders from nations around the world to discuss mutual security concerns and to increase interoperability. These visits help build partnerships over time and across echelons.

About us: The 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command is the only training command outside the continental United States, providing realistic and relevant training to U.S. Army, Joint Service, NATO, allied and multinational units, and is a regular venue for some of the largest training exercises for U.S. and European Forces.
