WIESBADEN, Germany -- A Soldier and Civilian from Army Europe earned Army command-level awards May 27, in New Orleans, La., for their superior leadership and technical proficiency while working for Army Europe's Program and Budget Division.
Sgt. 1st Class Darrin Waterbury, one of the lead systems analysts in the division earned his award for an array of accomplishments but one of the largest was his initiative and leadership while developing a crucial network backup system to ensure any possibility of critical data loss was eliminated.
"The backup came into play several times throughout the months after its creation," Waterbury said. "With network errors and data corruption we lost the working database and had to restore the complete database. The backup saved us weeks of work."
Andrea Powers, the Lead Program Analyst for Army Europe's Program and Budget Division, earned her award for outstanding operational success, which included developing and analyzing future resourcing as well as her impact with the Ballistic Missile Defense program.
"While I am very appreciative of the award recognition, it is important to note any success we have had in gaining additional resources is the result of an entire team effort," emphasized Powers.
