FORT HOOD, Texas - There are no limits of what a Soldier can achieve serving in the military. The sky is the limit depending on the choices made during the time served and the willingness to take on the challenges.
Spc. Jesus Torres of San Diego, accepted the challenge of trying to become the 1st Cavalry Division Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year competition held April 14-April 17 here.
The competition was a great experience from day one, said Torres, an armor crewman assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment "Mustangs," 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
The competitors competed in a variety of training that include weapons qualification, land navigation, an Army Physical Fitness Test, warrior tasks and a board to test the military knowledge.
"I would give it another shot if I don't win but would definitely prepare a lot more for it," said Torres. "Overall, it was a lot of fun."
