The competitors, Staff Sgt. Jason Huerbana, Alpha Company, Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB), Sgt. Jason Dunahoo, Radiology, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Sgt. Cory Bell, Pediatrics/Maternal Child, TAMC, Sgt. Christina Ware, Clinical Investigations, TAMC, Spc. Jose Espada, Blood Donor Center, TAMC, and Spc. Alexandria Lorenzo, Blood Donor Center, TAMC were all tested both physically and mentally throughout the competition.

The Soldiers began early Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, morning with the fitness challenge and finished the day with the NCO and Soldier oral Board.

Throughout the week the competitors completed challenges such as day and night land navigation, M-16 stress shoot, a written exam, an obstacle course, Army Warrior Tasks (AWT), and a mystery event which was held at the Medical Simulation Training Center (MSTC).

"The objective of this type of competition is to give the Soldiers different experiences and challenges. Making it physically and mentally challenging begins to shape them into leaders who can walk the walk. Experience is one of the things that can never be taken away from our Soldiers, only built upon," stated Sgt. 1st Class Ricardo Gracia, Department of Medicine Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC), TAMC.

Every competitor worked hard and gave it their all but, in the end, only one NCO and one Junior Enlisted Soldier could win.

Bell, representing the NCOs, and Lorenza, representing the Junior Enlisted Soldiers, were presented as the winners of TAMC's Best Warrior Competition at a ceremony held in the Kyser Auditorium on Feb. 6, 2015.

Both will represent TAMC in Pacific Regional Medical Command (PRMC) Best Warrior Competition in March, and if chosen will move on to represent the region in the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) competition.
