FORT BENNING, Ga., (Jan. 21, 2015) -- While the Motorcycle Mentorship Program is a precautionary program for motorcycle riders, the Maneuver Center of Excellence also has a course for any rider or vehicle driver who have exhibited less than safe driving habits.
Roadrageous, a part of the Army Traffic Safety Program, is an eight-hour course that addresses the root causes of aggressive driving, King said.
"This course is designed for Soldiers or (Department of the Army) civilians that have had tickets, moving violations, etc. … or if their commander feels they are a high-risk driver," King said. "It's a tool for commanders or senior leaders to correct their driving ... and to change the operator's behavior."
Commanders can send their Soldiers or DA civilians to one of the courses, held several times a month, King said. Classes can also be set up specifically for certain battalions who request it.
The course consists of instruction, skits, games and videos, King said.
"Driving a vehicle, a motorcycle, it's a privilege, not a constitutional right for anybody, military or not," King said.
Commanders interested in the course can visit https://apps.imcom.army.mil/airs/home.aspx or contact the MCoE Safety Office at 706-545-3676 or shawn.h.king2.civ@mail.mil.
