624th Contingency Contracting Team, Kaiserslautern, Germany

CCT team leader; U.S. Central Command Joint Theater Support Contracting Command director of Operations

Describe your current position: I am currently deployed and serve as the director of Operations (J3), CENTCOM Joint Theater Support Contracting Command, Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. At home station in Kaiserslautern, Germany, I serve as the 624th Contingency Contracting Team team leader.

Describe your background: I am a 2003 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. I served for nine years as an Armor officer, and have served in the functional area of the Acquisition Corps since June 2012. I have a bachelor's degree in Geospatial Information Science, and I'm a graduate of the Intermediate Leaders Education. I am Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level II certified in contracting.

Tell us more: I have a beautiful wife, Conoly, who is a captain in the Army Nurse Corps, and who is doing a wonderful job of being a single parent while I am deployed. We have been married for eight years and have a 20-month-old daughter, Margaret Kathryn. We also have two Australian Blue Heelers (dogs) that keep us outside most of the time. I am originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, but being in the Army, I have not stayed anywhere longer than 3 years since I was 17. While in Germany, I found a new hobby of metal detecting, and have found things ranging from a Celtic coin from 600 B.C. to musket balls to a coin from the French Revolution.

How does your job support the Soldier: Before deployment, I worked on the Germany-wide guards contract to provide armed security guards to provide safety and security to all Army installations in Germany. While deployed, I developed current and future strategic joint contracting operation plans in coordination with CENTCOM, the Joint Staff, the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Procurement), and major commands in Afghanistan to ensure continuity of contracting operations to support the warfighter.
