WIESBADEN, Germany - U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden leaders celebrated outstanding customer service and looked to the future during the quarterly Recognition Event Oct. 31 at the Wiesbaden Fitness Center.
"I want to thank everyone for all of your hard work -- we appreciate everything you do every day to take care of our Soldiers and their families," said USAG Wiesbaden Command Sgt. Maj. Roy Rocco.
Before recognizing the various teams and individuals for outstanding service and contributions to the garrison mission, Col. Mary Martin, USAG Wiesbaden's commander, said she is looking forward to an upcoming off-site for garrison leaders that will look at "what we have to do to restructure our vision and our mission to better support the Soldiers and families here in Wiesbaden."
The garrison commander also shared news about plans for a garrison-wide Organization Day to be held next April.
First up among honorees were members of Wiesbaden's Army Community Service, winners of the USAG Wiesbaden Team Excellence Award. The ACS staff accepted the trophy from last quarter's winners -- members of the Wiesbaden Postal Service Center. ACS staff members recognized included Jan Meert, Leary Henry, Annikka Trabucco, Earl McFarland, Sara Clow, Matt Golonka, Ann Cooper, Mary Cheney, Lori Susi, Erin Mosman, Michelle Stosich and Julie Wahlers.
ACS was cited as a "can-do team -- constantly innovative and always reaching out to the community stakeholders with an array of programs," said Arne Curtis, director of Plans, Analysis and Integration Office and master of ceremonies for the All Hands Assembly.
Members of the community soccer team were also recognized for having led the garrison to a 3-2 victory over the city of Wiesbaden during the annual friendship soccer match Oct. 21. Members of the team recognized included 1st Lt. Carlos Albaladejo, Sgt. Christopher Roberts, Staff Sgt. Chris Waldrop, Sgt. Paul Sissoko, Sgt. Matthew Schoenthal, Sgt. Pierre Chou, Sgt. Erwin Zetino, Spc. Ray Fernandez, Spc. Badjie Ousman, Spc. Agha Obinna, Spc. Sow Axel, Steven Eddings, Emmanuel House, Craig Mundle, Anglande Jean-Francois, Lucas Suorez, Spc. Andrew Hernandez, Coach Ray Rivera and the team captain 1st Lt. Nalton Green.
Several individuals were honored as being "inspirational employees."
The Directorate of Public Works' Felix Bartels, chief of the Building and Structures Branch, Operations Division, was recognized for "willingly accepting additional duties" while serving as the acting division chief in the chief's absence. The Directorate of Human Resource's Tamara Holland, a mail clerk volunteer, was noted for "tirelessly working to identify and take action to improve postal issues." James McKee, one of the Postal Service Center supervisors, was honored for "truly caring about people" and "setting a positive example on duty and off." The Directorate of Emergency Service's Ted Hansen was singled out for his outstanding oversight of the 250 contract security guards in the garrison. The DRM's Surinder Dhadwall was noted for being "one of the best assets DRM has."
Several individuals were honored with Interactive Customer Evaluation Emmy Awards for having received multiple, exceptional ICE comments from customers.
These included Gerd Schulze-Stein and Thomas Simon, DPW Carpenter Shop employees; Phillip Thomson of DHR's Passport Office; Mike Hublitz, DES Vehicle Registration; Clifford Wix, Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation's Utility Tax Office; Cheryl Atwood, S-6; Manfred Bopp, DPW's Environmental Division; Earl Brake, Wiesbaden Army Lodge; Hakeem Peterson, DRM; Ronnie Pineda, Child, Youth and School Services' Sports Office; Jason Bennett, Outdoor Recreation; and Master Sgt. Daniel White, Military Personnel Division.
Quarterly Customer Service Award recipient Timo Spindler of the Transformation and Stationing Management Office received a $750 cash award and was lauded for going "beyond the scope of normal duties to assist directorates and varying agencies within the Wiesbaden community with stellar customer service."
The final award saw a cross section of the garrison winning the recently introduced Cross Directorate Team Award. The Emergency Operations Center Team, including the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security's Ray Domenach, Michael Dirks, Anthony King, Milan Nestor, James Johnson, Guadalupe Alvarado; DES's William Trabucco, Staff Sgt. Kareem Paschal and Sgt. 1st Class Ray Brundege; the Public Affairs Office's Chrystal Smith; and USAG Wiesbaden Headquarters and Headquarters commander, Capt. Danielle Pappas and HHD's Pfc. Chase Rapp, were recognized for "their contribution to the success of the Sept. 26 Garrison Full Scale Exercise."
