TBILISI, Georgia -- Over the weekend USAREUR Commander, Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, traveled here to meet with senior leaders and observe Exercise Didgori, a command and staff exercise designed to enhance interaction between government institutions and improve command and control systems.
The exercise is based on real-world scenarios and is supported by Observer, Coach, Trainers from USAREUR's Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany.
The OC/Ts were there to support Georgian OC/Ts as a "train the trainer" opportunity, as Georgia is working to enhance that program.
Hodges also met with the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, Richard Norland; the new Georgian Minister of Defense, Mindia Janelidze; and the Georgian Chief of Defense, Maj. Gen. Vakhtang Kapanadze.
"I am very impressed with the exercise and especially the fact that the new (Minister of Defense) is taking part," Hodges said. "Georgia is a reliable and effective partner and we hope to not only continue the great relationship we have, but increase training and participation with our Georgian friends.
