FORT BENNING, Ga., (Nov. 12, 2014) -- Fort Benning is implementing changes to installation access procedures as part of requirements set forth by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, which requires installations to vet all visitors and uncleared contractors before they enter the installation.

Beginning Jan. 1, all non-Department of Defense card holders and anyone without a valid visitor pass must submit to a background check and obtain a pass at the Visitor Control Center at the Interstate 185 Access Control Point.

Visitors will be checked through the National Crime Information Center Interstate Identification Index before being granted unescorted access onto the installation.

Additionally, all trucks 5-ton or larger must now use the dedicated truck inspection point at the Harmony Church Access Control Point prior to entering the post. Drivers will be subject to an NCIC-III check.
