VILSECK, Germany -- Army Education salutes American Education Week with the theme, "Army Continuing Education -- Army Strong, Education Stronger", Nov. 17-21.
U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria Army Education Centers will host a variety of activities and events to promote the importance of lifelong learning opportunities within the military.
The Education Centers in Rose Barracks, Tower Barracks and Hohenfels will conduct information sessions on GoArmyEd, GI Bills, financial aid and FAST classes. Each center has a published schedule of events.
The Rose Barracks Education Center will also host a CLEP-a-thon on Nov. 20. CLEP and DSST tests allow Soldiers to earn college credit quickly and remotely.
From 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Soldiers are invited to the National Test Center to take as many computer-based exams as they choose. Test score results will be instantly available. The Soldier who passes the most exams during the CLEP-a-thon will receive a prize.
The CLEP-a-thon will be at the Rose Barracks Education Center, Bldg. 223, Room 2.10. Last test starts at 3 p.m. No appointments are needed and walk-ins are welcome. The UMUC Europe academic advisor and field representatives will be on-site during the event to help Soldiers take the right exams for their degree.
On Nov.21, the First Annual Military Academic Achievement Award Ceremony will be held at the Rose Barracks Multipurpose Center, Bldg. 134, 10-11 a.m.
University of Maryland University College -- Europe, Central Texas, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the University of Oklahoma will honor those who distinguished themselves academically and within the community. All are invited to the celebration and reception.
