U.S. Central Command recently released the redacted command directed investigation report into the June 9 fratricide incident vicinity of Arghandab, Afghanistan in which five U.S. Army Soldiers and an Afghan National Army soldier were killed.
The next of kin of the U.S. Army Soldiers killed in the incident have been briefed on the investigation findings and appropriate members of Congress have been notified.
Army senior leaders have also been briefed on the report's findings and recommendations. The Army is reviewing the findings and recommendations to determine if any tactics, techniques, procedures and standard operating procedures need to be adjusted to minimize the risk of this type of incident from happening in the future.
Additionally, the report has been forwarded to the Commander, United States Army Special Operations Command, for his review of the findings and recommendations. After a thorough review he will determine if any appropriate administrative or punitive action should be taken.
