YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea - Do you want to make a difference in this community' Well now's your chance folks! AFAP is right around the corner!

What is AFAP' AFAP is the Army Family Action Plan, one of the Army's most successful programs to enhance your quality of life. Believe me, the program has an impressive track record.

USAG-Yongsan residents will have the opportunity to influence positive change here in the garrison Oct. 22-24. The 2008 USAG-Yongsan AFAP Conference will be held in the Community Services Building on Yongsan Garrison South Post beginning at 8 a.m.

AFAP provides a way for Soldiers, Civilian Employees and Family Members to let the Army leadership know what works, what doesn't and most importantly, what is necessary to fix it.

AFAP alerts commanders to issues and topics that need their attention. The program gives the community a voice to quickly put plans into place to resolve problems.

It is a grass-roots process that directs actions to enhance readiness and increase retention by improving the well being for the entire community.

Your participation is vital. I encourage you to get involved. You can volunteer to be a delegate, facilitator, a recorder and transcriber. You can help by volunteering to be a room manager, provide issue support or as a behind-the-scenes helper with conference administration.

By participating in this AFAP conference, you will demonstrate your care for your family and the community.

I would also encourage you to submit issues and potential solutions for consideration at this conference. The Garrison has made it even easier to submit an issue by using this web form. You can also follow a link there to volunteer your time at the conference.

You can also make a submission using a form located at drop boxes at the Main Exchange, Commissary, South Post Shoppette, Army Community Service, the Yongsan Readiness Center and the Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital.

The deadline for issue submissions is Oct. 3.

For information on this important conference, call 738-3617. Make a difference in the community and improve our quality of life.

Get involved!
