CANTON, Ohio - The life of William McKinley was celebrated in a wreath laying ceremony at his Presidential Library and Museum in Canton, Ohio, Jan. 25, 2014.

The ceremony began with an opening prayer by Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Robert Brady of the 88th Regional Support Command.

A total of six wreaths were then ceremonially placed next to a photograph of the assassinated president who was born 171 years ago.

Kim Kenney, curator of the President McKinley Library and Museum, announced those laying wreaths to include Civil War Re-enactors, Masons of McKinley Lodge 431, Department of Ohio Army & Navy Union, Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, and State Senator W. Scott on behalf of the State of Ohio.

Maj. Gen. Karen LeDoux, commanding general of the 88th RSC, represented the President of the United States and layed the final wreath on his behalf.

Twenty-one seconds were then stood in silence followed by the playing of taps by Staff Sergeat Jeff Hotz of the 338th Army Band.
