During the Army Nurse Corps 113th Anniversary Celebration hosted Feb. 3, 2014, in the dining facility conference room of McDonald Army Health Center, Col. Glenda J. Lock (center), health center commander, took pleasure in honoring the achievements of all nurses.
The commander, who was also invited to be the event's guest speaker, spoke of the dedication and selflessness that Army nurses display when caring for their beneficiaries. She also thanked her nursing staff for the quality of care they continue to provide to the Fort Eustis community.
The commander later joined in the traditional cake-cutting with Lt. Col. Sonya Shaw (left), deputy commander of Nursing and Patient Support Services, and Lt. Katherine M. Scanlon, a nurse case manager assigned to the Warrior Transition Unit. Shaw and Scanlon represented as the youngest and oldest Soldier present, respectively.
The celebration also included opening remarks by Maj. DeAnn Callanan, Clinical Nurse Officer in Charge; invocation by Lt. Col. Wanda Horton, Senior Nurse Case Manager; ANC history by Maj. (Retired) Lisa Drummond, a nurse case manager assigned to Troop Medical Clinic 2; and closing remarks by Lt. Col. Sonya Shaw, the health center's chief nurse.
