Maj. Jundi J. Williams is a contract management officer for the 719th Contingency Contracting Team, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. During Operational Contract Support Joint Exercise 2014 he is providing support to distinguished visitors as part of the OCSJX-14 Joint Visitors Bureau.
Describe your current position
I serve as a contingency contracting officer for the 719th Contingency Contracting Team performing "cradle to grave" procurement for both Eglin Air Force Base and the 7th Special Forces Group.
I have the unique opportunity of working in a joint environment - learning contracting in an Air Force environment, yet utilizing this knowledge for a major Army customer. The 719th manages the Field Ordering Officer program for the 7th SFG. Last year, we managed nearly $750,000 in operation funds. I can truly say that I have been blessed to serve with the best contingency contracting team in the Army's inventory.
Describe your passion for your job
The passion for my job comes from my love of this great nation. I love the look my children give me when they see me in my uniform. Over the last 15 years I have had the honor and privilege to serve with some of the greatest men and women this nation has to offer. Parents have entrusted me to lead their sons and daughters, and taxpayers have expected me to be good stewards of their funds. These are challenges I willingly accept.
Tell us more about yourself
I was born in Wilmington, N.C. Both of my parents and grandparents are pastors, and they helped affirm my belief in God. Due to the fact that my father was in the Army, I had the pleasure of traveling the world. I have the honor of being the father to two of the greatest children in the world. My son Cristian is 11 years old and my daughter Jasmin is 10 years old.
My spare time is spent working on my doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership degree. I have been in the program for three years, and am expected to graduate in December. When not studying, I do motivational speaking throughout the community.
How does your job support the Soldier?
My current job has a direct impact on Soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and civilians. We as contracting professionals assist the 7th SFG in accomplishing its mission both in garrison and when deployed. We provide acquisition training and assistance to these war fighters while they are conducting missions. For Eglin Air Force Base, we provide base support. If you ever want to see the effect we have on Soldiers, walk outside, and nearly everything you see was made possible by a contracting professional.
What would you like others to know about you?
I would like others to know how passionate I am about training and developing Soldiers. My love for Soldiers and this great nation are what motivate me on a daily basis. My life's work is to make things better than I found them.
I come from humble beginnings - my parents instilled in me a "can do" attitude. This is something I have tried my best to pass on to my children. Can't is a word I am unable to comprehend. I often tell my Soldiers, "The only limiting factor to success, is your ability to dream!" If you can dream it, you can be it.
