ANSBACH, Germany (Dec. 18, 2013) -- With two federal holidays happening two weeks in a row, schedules are going to change around U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach.
Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2013, and New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2014, fall on Wednesday a week apart. Both of these days are U.S. federal holidays, and government offices will not be open. In addition to these, Dec. 26, known as St. Stephen's Day and Boxing Day in English and "Zweiter Weihnachtsfeiertag" in German, is a German public holiday, and Jan. 6, known as Feast of the Epiphany in English or "Heilige Drei Könige" in German, is a public holiday in Bavaria. This series of holidays will effect schedules of offices throughout the garrison. In addition U.S. and German holidays, Dec. 27 and 30 are U.S. Army-Europe training holidays.
Below is a list of holiday-related changes of schedule for U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach:
• Religious services and chapel hours
USAG Ansbach chapels at Storck Barracks and Katterbach Kaserne have a special holiday schedule. To learn more, see the corresponding slide for specific times, locations and contact information. Storck is hosting a Christmas Eve service (Protestant) at 4 p.m. Dec. 24, a Christmas mass at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 25, and Solemnity of Mary mass at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 1. Katterbach is hosting a Penance service at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19, a midnight mass starting at 8 p.m. Dec. 24, a Knights mass at 4 p.m. Dec. 28, and a New Year's Eve Mary mass at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 31. • AAFES holiday hours
AAFES has several updated holiday hours. To learn more, see the dark red slide above or visit www.shopmyexchange.com for specific contact information for each AAFES service.
• Directorate of Emergency Services:
The Directorate of Emergency Services will adjust hours during the holiday period. Affected offices include Military Police Administration, Vehicle Impound, Antiterrorism office, Emergency Management Office, Physical Security Office, Installation Access Control Offices, Vehicle Registration Office, Fire Inspection Office and fire extinguisher exchange services at Katterbach Kaserne and Storck Barracks. Offices will be closed Dec. 20 for the DES holiday party. Hours of operation Dec. 24 will be 8 a.m. to noon. Offices will be closed Dec. 25. Hours of operation Dec. 31 will be 8 a.m. to noon. Offices will be closed Jan. 1. In addition to this, the Fire Inspection Office and fire extinguisher exchange services at Katterbach Kaserne and Storck Barracks will be closed Jan. 6. These closures do not affect emergency services such as the Military Police desk and Fire Dispatch.
• 12th Combat Aviation Brigade dining facilities
Now through Jan. 3, the Flight Line Inn Dining Facility at Storck Barracks and the Wings of Victory Dining Facility at Katterbach Kaserne, will be open Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. for breakfast, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 6 p.m. for dinner and Saturdays, Sundays and Christmas Day and New Year's Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for brunch and 4 to 5:30 p.m. for supper.
• Health clinics
The Illesheim Health Clinic will close at noon Dec. 20. The Katterbach health Clinic will be closed Dec. 25 and 27 and Jan. 1.
• Transportation Motorpool
Due to an annual holiday party Dec. 20, the Dispatch Office will be open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Ansbach shuttle bus will run from 5:30 to 9:40 a.m. with its last stop at Barton Barracks at 9:40 a.m.; the Storck shuttle bus will run from 5:15 to 10:10 a.m., and the bus will not return to Storck Barracks. All other Transportation Motorpool operations will close at 11:30 a.m.
• Training Support Center photo studio
