FORT RUCKER, Ala. (Nov. 7, 2013) - America's veterans are among our greatest national treasures. Their collective experience is an essential part of our shared heritage, and because of them, liberty will endure here and around the world. This Veterans Day, we will honor the sacrifices of service members both past and present - including you, our Soldiers, who continue the fight for freedom every day. Thank you for your service and dedication to our nation and its people.

During fiscal 2013, accidental fatalities across the Army fell to a historic low. This achievement is the finest tribute we could pay to past generations of Soldiers, and the greatest gift we could give to those serving today and in the future. The safety culture you've created with your leaders and fellow Soldiers will benefit our Army for years to come, provided we stay focused and keep risk management an imperative in all we do. This long weekend, think about your plans and choose your course of action wisely. Remember that you matter, and your decisions today affect all those that follow.

We wish you all a wonderful Veterans Day!
