Fort Bliss, Texas -- The 3rd Battalion, 364th Engineer Regiment, Task Force Rampant, 5th Armored Brigade, Division West, signaled a new era as Lt. Col. Aaron L. Dorf relinquished command to Lt. Col. Dave Woodruff on Aug. 28 at Milam Youth Activity Center here.

Woodruff assumed command of the TF battalion, which has the mission to train United States Army National Guard and Reserve Engineer units deploying in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

Col. Raul E. Gonzalez, 5th Armored Brigade commander, presented Dorf with a Meritorious Service Medal for his accomplishments with the battalion during his 25-month tenure as commander. Dorf's wife, Michaela, was recognized as an official "Yellow Rose of Texas", awarded through the Office of the Governor for her contributions to the community, and given a certificate signifying that the star of El Paso was lit in her honor for all the support she gave to TF Rampant.

During the ceremony, Gonzalez shared his remarks on TF Rampant's past accomplishments under Dorf and thanked him for relocating the unit from Fort Lewis, Wash. and developing a system that effectively trains multiple units and thousands of Soldiers annually. He also commented on his expectations for Woodruff and the confidence he has in him to lead the battalion to continued success.

Dorf thanked the small team of individuals who participated in the battalion's move and were intricate in building the battalion to what it is today. He also thanked his trainers/mentors, who committed long hours to ensure that the deploying units are best prepared for their upcoming missions.

During his assumption of command speech, Woodruff said that it was an honor and privilege to get to lead and train such an outstanding battalion of engineers. He also thanked his Family for all the support they have given throughout his career and the continued support they will provide as he commands 3-364th Engineer Battalion.
