ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Nine people from the U.S. Army Sustainment Command headquarters were honored in an awards ceremony Sept. 5 here in Heritage Hall.
The awards-specific ceremony was the first under Maj. Gen. John Wharton, ASC commanding general.
"You have to take the time to recognize folks who do such good work," Wharton said.
"It's very important that we recognize folks who do so well," Wharton said. "It's amazing. It's huge" what the awardees and others have done to "make it happen" in carrying out ASC's global missions.
"Thanks for everything you do," he said.
Those honored in the ceremony were:

O Joe Phearse, Logistics Civil Augmentation Program, Highly Productive Achievement Award:
As a logistics management specialist, Logistics Civil Augmentation Program, he successfully performed a myriad of duties as the LOGCAP lead planner in support of three major training events. He served as acting chief, Plans, Training, and Exercises Branch on numerous occasions, while also leading and chairing the Program Management Office LOGCAP weekly teleconference with forward operators worldwide. He is highly regarded by his peers and superiors for his selfless service, motivation, and untiring efforts in assisting the forward operators in the field.
O Nancy St. Clair, Logistics, Highly Productive Achievement Award:
As a Logistics Management Specialist, G-4, (Logistics) she has been a key player in the management of non-tactical vehicle support. She ensures all equipment requirements were collected, analyzed, updated, and reported to the ASC directorates and the Army Materiel Command, G-4. She was also instrumental in the management of equipment utilization and authorization for NTVs, government furnished equipment, and commercial off-the-shelf equipment.
O Cris Arduser, Operations, Highly Productive Achievement Award:
As a staff action officer, G-3, (Operations), Training and Programs Division, she had a significant impact on office operations in regards to ASC pre-deployment training for LOGCAP personnel. She created, designed, implemented, and continues to update a website for pre-deployment training events. She compiles schedules for all training events within the program to include scheduling briefers, training rooms, information technology support, equipment, and supplies. Her training of incoming Soldiers for these duties ensured a seamless transition for upcoming pre-deployment training events.
O Chief Warrant Officer 3 Eric Kim, Distribution Management Center, Highly Productive Achievement Award:
As a supply systems technician in charge of the Distribution Management Center Supply Division, Standard Army Retail Supply System 2A Customer Assistance Branch, his performance was exceptional. He became the subject matter expert and provided technical support to 135 SARSS-1 Supply Support Activities on the ASC's Corps Theater ADP (Automated Data Processing) Service Center (CTASC) East and West, consisting of 90 tactical and 45 Directorates of Logistics. He orchestrated ASC CTASC consolidations and completed transfers at Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Campbell, Ky.; Fort Drum, N.Y.; Fort Polk, La.; Fort Stewart, Ga.; and Hunter Army Airfield, Ga., SARSS sites from ASC CTASC East to West without any system downtime or readiness impact.
O Chief Warrant Officer 5 Ronald Moore, Distribution Management Center, inducted as a Distinguished Member of the Quartermaster Regiment.
In 1991, the Distinguished Member of the Regiment award was introduced to honor selected individuals who have made "distinguished contributions to the Quartermaster Corps," and who, by virtue of prestige, status and experience, "will assist in fostering Regimental pride and esprit, heritage and tradition," according to the Army Quartermaster website.
O Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Favory, Provost Marshal Office, Meritorious Service Medal:
For exceptionally meritorious service as the Provost Noncommissioned Officer-
In-Charge and Provost Force Protection Noncommissioned Officer. His commitment to mission accomplishment always ensured the security and safety of all personnel and equipment on a global scale.
Favory also received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. He participated in 15 volunteer community service programs since November 2011; spent countless hours leading and mentoring youth groups in the community; spent about 150 hours coaching Little League; and, volunteered his time to support four World War II and Korean War Veterans Honor Flights, two Tribute to the Fallen Memorial ceremonies and assisted in planning the Quad Cities Veterans Memorial.
