CCAD's Leadership Investment For Tomorrow, or LIFT program, provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for today's workers to become tomorrow's leaders.
Facilitated by the Skills and Development Office, it engages students to broaden and improve their management skills as individuals set the pace and interact with other CCAD workers. Each participant gains insight into their strengths and weaknesses.
"The leader development team, along with the Skills and Development Division, is preparing to meet the leadership needs of the army depot by just consistently staying in line with their mission, vision, and values," said Manny Guzman, LIFT Program Manager.
"We're looking for new and innovative ways of doing things and trying to apply that to our program," said training specialist, Craig Tuttle. "We're constantly assessing the program, getting feedback from our students and monitoring the progress as the program goes along,"
"Additionally we're looking at what the Department of Defense has now put out for all civilians in our development so we're looking at the different competencies -- different skill sets that have been identified for civilians in our leader development," said Guzman.
"I think that the outreach program that we did is potentially going to grow as well, and a lot more cross-training is going to happen across the depot which is really going to strengthen the leadership at the depot as a whole," said Tuttle.
"I've learned a lot about myself through self-awareness," said John Davis, one of the LIFT students. "The MBTI that we had as well helped me to realize where I'm going, where I've been, what I would like to do in the future, how I see myself in the future."
"I've been given different tools on how to deal with different situations," said Antonio Alvarez, another LIFT student. "I didn't have those tools prior to this class."
"The LIFT program can benefit CCAD in the long-term with the networking portion, itself," said LIFT participant Edwardo Avila. "It gives us other avenues where we can contact each other, especially with new supervisors coming on. If they have specific questions, if they come against situations and scenarios where they're uncertain, we're all a phone call away. We can all help each other. Hopefully, these relationships will stay tight, will stay intact, and they will continue to build as the LIFT program grows."
Leadership development is critical to the future of the depot. The LIFT program ensures that leaders of today mentor the leaders of tomorrow. That commitment is crucial to success here at CCAD. It's an opportunity for employees to grow, enhance their career, and better serve the warfighter.
