FORT BELVOIR, Va. (June 25, 2013) -- Ready and Resilient is the theme of the 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show performed at Fort Belvoir, Va., June 22, 2013, and hosted by Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter and Command Sgt. Major Earl Rice, Installation Management Command.

The Soldier Show is a high-energy live musical production that showcases the talents of active duty Soldiers selected by audition from throughout the Army. The show is assembled and rehearsed five weeks for a four-month tour of military installations across the nation.

"This year's show honors our Army's continued resilience and strength," said Ferriter. "It celebrates this great Nation, our Army, and the Families and communities that support our service members."

"This show highlights an important message to be ready and resilient," said Cpl. Jeremy Gaynor, Army Entertainment Detachment production stage manager. "We personalize the message because we live the message, for the Soldier, by the Soldier."

Audience members included Gen. Raymond Odierno, Army chief of staff, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Raymond Chandler, other senior leadership, gold star family members, Sexual Harassment Assault Response Program, or SHARP, volunteers, and the local community.

The show this year marks the 30th anniversary of the U.S. Army Soldier Show that integrated skits that increased the awareness and prevention of sexual assault and sexual harassment in the military.

"This year's production 'Ready and Resilient: At Your Service' explores what it means to be Ready and Resilient in today's Army," said Ferriter. "This production serves as a reminder that the strength of our Nation is our Army; the strength of our Army is our Soldiers; the strength of our Soldiers is our families; and that is what makes our Army Strong."

"There is one thing I'm hoping that the audience gets out of this show," said Gaynor. "That we are always ready, always resilient and most of all, we are always Army strong!"
