FORT SILL, Okla.-- Anglers from the Lawton-Fort Sill Bass Anglers took to Lake Lawtonka June 15 for their monthly tournament with high anticipation of landing the big one.

The conditions felt like it could be a great day to be on the lake with overcast skies and warmer temperatures. There was very little wind which is the exception in this area, but even with great fishing conditions not all anglers were successful.

Kevin Jones, however, finished the day with a five-fish limit weighing 14.13 pounds to take the first place prize. Kevin also had the big bass of the day with a nice 4-pound largemouth.

Al Stevenson finished 2nd with a five fish limit weighing 10.74 pounds.

Chad Ryan finished third with two fish weighing 3.73 pounds.

Sixteen fishermen weighed in 23 fish with a combined weight of 48.31 pounds.

The Lawton/Fort Sill Bass Anglers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of bass fishing and fishing etiquette, as well as educating others about the sport. The organization is open to both Soldiers and civilians. Anyone who would like to join does not have to own a boat, and every effort possible is made to ensure that come tournament day, they have a place on board to test their skills.

Yearly membership dues are $35, and the next club meeting will be July 3 in the Fort Sill Sportsmen's center classroom at 7 p.m. The July tournament is scheduled for July 14 at Lake Ellsworth.
