REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- A U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command space operations officer famous for his face painting at command-sponsored Survivor Outreach Services events retired June 14.

Lt. Col. Philip P. Speth, who worked in SMDC's G-3 office, retired at the command's Redstone Arsenal headquarters. He had 20 years of service.

During the ceremony, Speth received the Meritorious Service Medal, a certificate of appreciation, certificate of retirement and pin, and an American flag.
