ASC commanding general nominated for promotion to major general

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Department of Defense has announced that Brig. Gen. John F. Wharton has been nominated for promotion to major general. Wharton has served as commanding general of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC), which is headquartered on Rock Island Arsenal, since September 2012.

The nomination is pending approval by the U.S. Senate. A promotion ceremony will be scheduled after the promotion is approved.

The U.S. Army Sustainment Command supports United States and coalition forces around the world.
