FORT SILL, Okla.-- Good nutrition isn't just a benefit to commissary customers, it can also be good for business.
Billy Benner, Fort Sill Commissary director, said the store tailors its product offerings around the items its shoppers want.
"We have a contract to carry certain staple items, but will experiment from time to time, generally adding healthy eating products," he said. "We want to make sure our customers have that 'wow factor' when they walk in our store."
The commissary also employs a variety of media to catch customers' attention and cater to their dietary preferences.
Benner said the commissary is accessible online by logging in to www.commissaries.com or by typing in Fort Sill Commissary on Web search engines. Once connected to the website, customers may select the healthy living tab that opens a drop-down menu to "Kay's Kitchen," food safety and recipes. No military household need settle for canned soup and sandwiches for dinner with the abundance of recipes provided here.
In upcoming articles, the Cannoneer will address other creative ways the commissary staff employs to attract and retain its customers.
