FORT SILL, Okla. -- The Impact Zone had a facelift making it a brighter, more inviting place for patrons to enjoy hanging out with their friends and grabbing something to eat. There will even be a drive-thru window opening in January for quick food-pickups.

According to Patricia Arnold, Impact Zone manager, the facility and the bar needed the changes.

"The Impact Zone has been revitalized and is ready to serve the Fort Sill community," said Arnold.

The renovations include new ceilings tiles and a lighter paint job to brighten up the facility. There is also lighter colored carpet and paneling on the walls.

The U-shaped bar of old is gone -- in its place is a long, straight bar with a streamlined tap system.

"One of the nice things about the new bar is the storage shelves behind it are big enough to display all the liquors so patrons can see the selections available," said Arnold. "In addition to the TVs throughout the facility, there are two big screen TVs mounted on the bar for patrons to catch all the action of the football game or pay-per-view UFC fights.

The dance floor is gone and the area has been carpeted, and is opened up for a seating capacity of 220 inside and 50 in the beer garden, she said.

"This added space allows for tables or a variety of setups from a sports night to karaoke and listening to the jukebox, or for special functions from prayer meetings to holiday get-togethers and hail and farewells," said Arnold.

If there is a need for a dance floor there is a portable floor available to bring in for parties.

"We also offer TouchTunes karaoke at the Impact Zone on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings when the bar is open," said Arnold. "It offers the most advanced, connected entertainment experience for both the karaoke enthusiast and the casual user. It is fully licensed with a rich catalog featuring the most popular current karaoke hits and users can link to the myTouchTunes mobile app to manage their music preferences, from jukebox to playlists to karaoke songbooks. Members can connect and share with others, all the while earning bonus credits, digital pins and other perks."

Arnold said the myTouchTunes mobile app allows consumers to control the jukebox without leaving their seat.

The Beer Garden, which is open weather-permitting, has had solar panels added to harness the bright sun and as an added bonus, it blocks some of the wind.

The Impact Zone has the only microbrewery in Southwest Oklahoma and sells several of the microbrews at the bar.

The next monthly meeting for home brew enthusiasts is Nov. 24 and Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. The Impact Zone Brew Club is open to everyone age 21 and over, military and civilian, regardless of brew experience to get together and enjoy a wealth of knowledge in the world of beer and wine.

For bar service, the IZ is open Thursday and Friday from 4-10 p.m., Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight and closed Monday through Wednesday, unless reserved for an event.

Food service is busiest for breakfast and lunch on weekdays so the Java Café opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Java Café is not open evenings except for special events and reservations.

The facility is available to rent for prayer meetings, hail and farewells, holiday get-togethers or organization days. To reserve the Impact Zone, call Arnold at 442-0355.
