TACOM LCMC welcomes new commander

WARREN, Mich. -- In a formal ceremony held April 22 at the Detroit Arsenal, the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command welcomed Brig. Gen. Scott G. West as commander.
The ceremony doubled as a retirement event for the outgoing commander, Maj. Gen. William M. Lenaers. Lenaers has been commander of TACOM LCMC since September 2004 and has served on active duty for 36 years.
Gen. Benjamin S. Griffin, U.S. Army Materiel Command commander, officiated the ceremony.
"We are very fortunate to have a leader with Scott West's experience, knowledge, and ability to help build upon what Mike Lenaers has done here with this great team," said Griffin.
West received a warm welcome by the workforce and he told the crowd how excited he was to be at TACOM LCMC.
"I haven't been here long enough, but I am qualified to say one thing for sure and that is that you enjoy an outstanding reputation throughout the Army in the field," West said. "I can say that with great confidence, whether in Europe, here throughout the continental United States, in Iraq or Afghanistan, TACOM LCMC enjoys a wonderful reputation."
West previously served as the 21st Theater Support Command commanding general,
U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army. He has commanded at every level from company through theater support command, and held a wide variety of staff positions.
TACOM LCMC integrates Army acquisition, logistics, and technology responsibilities, authorities, and processes to enable a closer relationship among all its partner organizations that develop, acquire, and sustain the capabilities provided by ground and soldier systems around the world.
The TACOM LCMC mission is to provide and sustain mobility, lethality and survivability for Soldiers, other services and our allies through ground combat, automotive, marine and armaments technologies.
With a workforce of approximately 3,000 personnel in Warren and more than 18,000 worldwide, TACOM LCMC supports more than 3,500 fielded systems and more than 29,000 components that make those systems work.
