FORT A.P. HILL TO HOST TWO-PERSON TEAM AND YOUTH TROUT TOURNAMENTS

The two-person tournament is slated to begin at 8 a.m. and only those teams participating will be permitted to fish at Beaver Dam Pond until the tournament's conclusion at 1 p.m.

The cost is $30 per team. All anglers can register at the Outdoor Recreation Office beginning March 7 to enter the tournament. Participants will also be able to register at 7 a.m. at the Outdoor Recreation Office the day of the tournament.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. They include a first place prize of two $70 Gander Mountain gift cards; a second place prize of two $50 Dick's Sporting Goods gift cards; and third, two Courtland Pre-loaded Fly Fishing Travel Rod/Reel (total value of $80).

The youth tournament is slated to begin at 8 a.m. on March 24 and only those teams participating will be permitted to fish at Fish Hook Pond until the tournament's conclusion at noon.

The cost is $10 per person for ages 15 and under. Trout teams must be comprised of at least one legal guardian over the age of 18 to compete. Adults are authorized to assist but may not help reel in the fish.

All youth anglers must register at the Outdoor Recreation Office beginning at 7 a.m. to enter the tournament. Participants failing to register will immediately be disqualified.

Once registered, anglers can proceed to Fish Hook Pond where they will receive a full briefing on the tournament rules.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. They include a first place prize of a $60 gift card for Dick's Sporting Goods; a second place prize of a Shakespeare® Ugly Stik® Spinning Rod and Reel Combo; and third, fishing gear.

The Fort A.P. Hill trout season is open through April 30. The trout ponds are open to the public and all anglers must have a valid Virginia fresh water fishing license. Anglers must also obtain a mandatory free criminal history check from the Fort A.P. Hill Police desk. There are fees for the Fort A.P. Hill fishing and trout passes.

For access to the installation, all adult visitors must present photo identification, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
