3 FLW Soldiers die of wounds suffered in Sept. 28 improvised explosive device attack in Afghanistan

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. -- Three Soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood died Wednesday in Afghanistan of injuries suffered when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device while conducting route clearance.

They were assigned to the 515th Engineer Company, 5th Engineer Battalion, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood.

Killed were:

1st Lt. Ivan Lechowich, 27, Valrico, Fla.

Spc. Steven Gutowski, 24, Plymouth, Mass.

Pfc. David Drake, 21, of Lumberton, Texas.
