2011 TRADOC Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year begins Sunday

FORT MONROE, Va. - Nine active-duty service members from installations across the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) will be competing here next week for the title of TRADOC Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) and Soldier of the Year.
The Soldiers are representing the four major commands associated with TRADOC " the Combined Arms Center, U.S. Army Accessions Command, the Combined Arms Support Command and U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. Each candidate has competed and won at lower level competitions conducted within their represented organizations.
The four-day competition kicks off Sunday Aug. 14, with the Army Physical Fitness Test. Then the competitors will be tested on their knowledge of Soldier/Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills during Urban Orienteering events for the next two days. Also, they must perform Weapons Qualifications and a myriad of Mystery Task. All the field events/testing will be conducted at Fort AP Hill, Va.
Candidates will appear before a board comprised of first sergeants representing various units within TRADOC.
The competition culminates with an awards luncheon scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Fort Eustis Club.
TRADOC NCO and Soldier of the Year winners will represent TRADOC at the Army’s Best Warrior competition later this fall.
