CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait, June 30, 2011 -- Third Army hosted a dinner for Soldiers from Operation Proper Exit, part of the Troops First Foundation, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, June 25, 2011.

Operation Proper Exit is designed to bring wounded Soldiers back to their place of injury to grant them closure and help them deal with life after injury, as well as share their stories with Soldiers in theater. The operation is an initiative of Troops First Foundation and is supported by the United Service Organization.

Other initiatives created by Troops First Foundation are: Operation Front Door, which helps Wounded Warriors secure and sustain home ownership, and Operation Coaches and Warriors, which provides Wounded Warriors with a personal message from their favorite college basketball coach as well as others.

“Area Support Group Kuwait takes care of wounded Soldiers and makes sure they are good to go,” said 1st Sgt. Rodney Holloway, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, ASG Kuwait.

Holloway works with Operation Proper Exit to make sure any special needs of the wounded warriors are taken care of on their way to their final destination.

When Brig. Gen. David G. Clarkson, deputy commanding general, Third Army, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, was approached to be present at the dinner, he jumped at the chance, saying he was honored to have the opportunity to meet the wounded warriors.

“I applaud you for your courage,” said Clarkson, speaking of the Soldiers’ willingness to return to their place of injury.

Sgt. Maj. of the Army Raymond F. Chandler III made an appearance at the dinner. Chandler showed his support and appreciation of Operation Proper Exit and Troops First Foundation by personally speaking with each Wounded Warrior, as well as with the co-founder of Troops First Foundation, Rick Kell.

Third Army’s hosting of the dinner for Operation Proper Exit shows its dedication to shaping the future by doing everything possible to get wounded warriors back on track.
