Former U.S. Park Service Chief of Police, Salvatore Lauro, receives mementos and congratulations from Maj. Gen. Karl R. Horst, commanding general of the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region and the U.S. Military District of Washington and D.C. after finishing a 32 year career in Law Enforcement. Horst co-hosted a reception for Lauro with Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier at Fort McNair Mar. 22.
Establishing and maintaining face-to-face working relationships with more than 100 partners and stakeholders concerned with security in the nation's capital is a primary focus area for the JFHQ NCR/MDW. Other interagency partners attending the ceremony included senior leaders from the U.S. Secret Service - Washington Field Office, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the George Washington University Police Department. The reception is part of the JFHQ NCR/MDW's interagency engagement strategy which is designed to develop partnerships with local, state, regional and federal agencies to synchronize efforts and ensure mutual understanding of missions, functions and capabilities.
