General Homer Smith, following the internment services at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery March 17. During the Vietnam war, Smith and his embassy staff evacuated 7,500 South Vietnamese from Saigon. Linh Duy Vo, who came from California to pay his final respects was one of those survivors. "He made it happen for me. He gave me life and freedom," Vo said.
