Resiliency Training Campus, Paving the Way for Prevention

When Soldiers have issues, where do they go' If it were a problem with their spouse experiencing financial hardship or were in need of anger management, where would you send them' What about a Soldier that just has a tough time managing his life because of challenges at home' Fort Sill has made it more simple for the leaders, Soldiers, Department of Defense civilians, retirees, and the families to get the help they need.
The Resiliency Training Campus, formerly the Religious Support Operations Center, has grouped access to many of the services on Fort Sill. By grouping agencies like Army Community Services, Family Advocacy Program, Army One Source, Military Family Life Counselors, and substance abuse prevention, members can get a wide variety of assistance at one location.
The RTC has been broken down into three major sections, mind, body and spirit, to assist personnel with specific needs. Smoking Cessation, Nutrition, and a Occupational Health Nurse are just a few of the things offered at the Body section of the RTC. The functional Fitness Center offers several fitness programs for introduction training, to find out which of the many fitness machines are the right ones for the demographic and goal of the customer. Classes include introduction to Palates, Zumba, and Physical Readiness Training conditioning drills.
"We want to improve the overall health and welfare of the Fort Sill community through prevention classes and information", said Capt. Jasmine Peterson, Wellness center section leader.
Through mind, body, and spiritual fitness the RTC will be setting up everyone in the Fort Sill community for success. The campus has made it possible to have a chaplain on duty 24 hours a day to help develop and strengthen the resilience service members and civilians need, especially in times of persistent conflict or stress.
"We wanted to ultimately create a one stop shop for classes, prevention, and referrals dealing with the mind, body, and spirit", said Major Richard Moore, Commandant of the Resiliency Training Campus.
Being only the second RTC to exist in the Army, it is a new step in prevention for many personal challenges that Soldiers and DoD civilians encounter. The campus offers a multitude of classes and programs including employment assistance, anger and stress management techniques, communication skills, tobacco cessation classes, and many more. The programs are focused on developing a resilience that will help them in good times, and in bad.
"We want to empower Fort Sill personnel with the tools that will assist them in just about any aspect of their lives", said 1st Sgt. John Peterson, RTC first sergeant.
The RTC has made it a little easier for Diamond Brigade leaders, Soldiers, civilians, and family members to take care of themselves and their families. So whether your spouse needs help finding a job, you are curious on how to take care of your specific fitness needs, or you just want to stop smoking, the RTC can help you.
