The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command recently hosted its first Hail Ceremony at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., to welcome CECOM personnel to APG.

CECOMAca,!a,,cs Deputy to the Commander Edward C. Thomas greeted attendees, some new to CECOM and some new to APG. Now with nearly 1,800 CECOM and Army Team Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance personnel working at APG, the center of gravity for the CECOM mission is shifting from Fort Monmouth, N.J., to APG, according to Thomas.

Presenting office chiefs hailed approximately 100 individuals at the event. Many of the presenters were also new to APG.

Aca,!A"We will be moving to the Aca,!Eoebig cityAca,!a,,c in August,Aca,!A? said Thomas referring to the new campus with space for 7,300 personnel. The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, or C4ISR, Center of Excellence campus groundbreaking took place in March 2008. Two years later, CECOM personnel can now expect to move into the first completed building in less than two months.

Before moving to the new state-of-the-art campus, CECOM personnel and C4ISR partners are occupying workspaces across the installation. The team originates from a partnership between the U.S. Army Materiel Command and the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology. These team members comprise the C4ISR portion of the ArmyAca,!a,,cs Materiel Enterprise. ItAca,!a,,cs this partnership and collaboration that enables life cycle support for C4ISR systems. Together, these organizations develop, acquire, provide, field and sustain C4ISR systems and battle command capabilities for the joint warfighter.
