The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center held its 2009 Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony inside the Presidio of Monterey chapel due to rainy weather. A smaller tree was lit inside during the observance but the outside tree was also lit up...
Col. Sandusky invited anyone in the audience under 10 and a-half years of age to come up to the front of the chapel to assist her by pushing the plunger in to light the tree.
Col. Sandusky and her "helpers" push the plunger in to light up the Christmas Tree.
Chaplain (Capt.) Martin Chang, who was the master of ceremonies for the tree lighting event, invites the attendees to join the Air Force Choir in singing traditional Christmas Hymns.
The Air Force Choir sang the National Anthem, and three traditional Christmas Hymns: O Christmas Tree, Joy to the World, and O Come All Ye Faithful.
Col. William T. Bare, assistant commandant, DLIFLC, thanks the choir for braving the elements to perform for the tree lighting observance.
