• The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center held its 2009 Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony inside the Presidio of Monterey chapel due to rainy weather. A smaller tree was lit inside during the observance but the outside tree was also lit up for the participants to view when they departed the chapel. Col. Sue Ann Sandusky, commandant of the DLIFLC, officially welcomed all and was assisted by the younger attendees in turning the lights on.
