REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. - Members of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command gathered Aug. 26 to honor and remember the anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. With that Amendment, 51% of the United States population that had only had limited say in their government--women--won the right to vote.

"I'm here because I have a mother, wife, and daughter," said Steve Eldridge, deputy, G2, USASMDC/ARSTRAT. "I'm here in their honor," he said.

The command recognized the milestone event of the 19th Amendment with a display in the lobby that included information on particular achievements and important figures in the movement.

The event culminated with a video highlighting the suffrage movement along with the leaders who worked tirelessly for 72 years to make the 19th amendment a reality.
