JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (Oct. 23, 2018) -- Leaders from the 901st Contracting Battalion cased their organizational colors during a ceremony Oct. 22 at Fort Hood, Texas, in preparation for deployment.

The battalion deploys later this month to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, almost a year after returning home from its previous deployment to Afghanistan.

"Today, the colors have been cased in preparation for yet another deployment … to once again do what the nation and the Army Contracting Command has called us to do, which is deliver readiness through contracting solutions in support of the Army and Unified Land Operations, anytime, anywhere," said Lt. Col. Kizzy Danser, the 901st CBN commander, during the ceremony.

Danser and Master Sgt. Deaquennette Thomas, who will serve as the forward 901st CBN senior enlisted adviser forward, cased the colors.

Officiating the ceremony was Col. Joel Greer, the 418th Contracting Support Brigade commander, who expressed his confidence in the unit and its Soldiers being fully prepared for the task at hand.

"Readiness is about the team here, and we know the 901st Contracting Battalion is here to enhance the readiness of the 1st Cavalry Division and III Corps," Greer said. "We realize the Army Materiel Command does not carry that burden alone. We are proud to be a decisive part in the successful readiness for units on Fort Hood."

Danser acknowledged members of the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Hood contracting office who worked side by side with Soldiers to ensure they possessed the contracting skills necessary for this deployment and commended the Soldiers remaining behind to lead the battalion's rear detachment. She also thanked the family members present for their continued commitment and sacrifice in support of Soldiers.

Subordinate to the 418th CSB, the 901st CBN is comprised of a headquarters and five contracting team. It is responsible for planning and executing contingency contracting in support of Army and joint operations, preparing warfighters to accomplish operational contracting support missions, and training and deploying contingency contracting teams. In garrison, the battalion along with MICC-Fort Hood provides contracting support for the 1st CD and Fort Hood.
