KRUSEVAK, Serbia -- U.S. Army Europe Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear, or CBRN, Soldiers participated in the Serbian Armed Forces CBRN Centre inaugural International CBRN Course, here, March 21-25.

The course covered basic analysis of radiological and chemical contaminated samples, and allowed cross-communication between NATO and partner countries on a variety of CBRN defense topics and procedures.

The course concluded with a mini field training exercise were each of the participants performed several tasks while wearing Serbian military CBRN protection equipment.

CBRN Soldiers from 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, 5th Signal Command, and U.S. Army Europe headquarters attended the course, paving the way for future CBRN engagements with Serbia.

The course was also attended by CBRN personnel from Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Hungary, Italy, Kuwait, Macedonia, Montenegro, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Serbian instructors ranged from professional CBRN noncommissioned officers to doctors with decade of training and education experience.

The Serbian Armed Forces CBRN Centre is a national institution with a long tradition in training and education in the CBRN arena. The Centre's activities of exercises, courses, training, and international military cooperation provide significant contributions to strengthen regional cooperation.
