Yongsan tax center opens doors for tax season

YONGSAN GARRISON -- USAG Yongsan celebrated the opening of the Yongsan Tax Center Jan. 28, at the Moyer Community Activities Center. Garrison commander, Col. Maria P. Eoff and Command Sgt. Maj. Henney Hodgkins joined the tax center staff as they kicked off the 2016 tax season. Those needing assistance with their taxes will have until June 16, to take advantage of the professional tax services available to them through the center.

For over 20 years, the Yongsan Tax Center (YTC) has provided quality tax preparation services to families and personnel located in USAG Yongsan. All Soldiers and civilians who work at the YTC receive specialized training and certification from a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program instructor. The YTC supports mission readiness by providing free, quality tax preparation services to its clients who are currently serving overseas. The mission of the YTC is to provide assistance for eligible clients in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 27-3 in a professional and timely manner.

Most of the military service members and their dependents are eligible for the services. This includes, service members, active duty military, DOD civilians, retired military, reservists on active duty, their dependents and surviving family members of the eligible.

Yongsan Tax Center's operating hours is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Required documents are military ID, social security cards for dependents (or photocopy), IRS Forms W-2, 1099s, 1098s and all other tax related or financial documents with the copy of last year's tax return.
