WIESBADEN, Germany -- Bulgaria's former deputy chief of defense and former commander of the Bulgarian Land Forces was inducted into the U.S. Army War College's International Fellows Hall of Fame, Jan. 7.

Maj. Gen. Neyko Nenov, Deputy Chief of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria and former Commander of the Bulgarian Land Forces, passed away Jan. 28, 2015.

Nenov's wife and son, Despa Nenova and Stanimir Nenov, attended the ceremony, which was held in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on his behalf.

Each year approximately 80 senior military officers from 73 different countries are extended an invitation from the Chief of Staff of the United States Army to attend the U.S. Army War College as International Fellow.

The academic year is full of studying, research, and fellowship as these officers are exposed to and instructed in areas ranging from military concepts and doctrine to national and theater level strategies.

The U.S. Army War College International Fellows Hall of Fame was established in 1987 to provide a prestigious and visible means of honoring USAWC IF graduates who have attained, through military merit, the highest positions in their nation's armed forces, or who have held an equivalent position by rank or responsibility in a multinational organization.
