MISEAU, Germany - More than 275 Soldiers of the 212th Combat Support Hospital were on-hand to welcome their new commander during the 212th CSH change-of-command ceremony at Miseau Army Depot June 26.

Col. Brian Almquist assumed command of the 212th CSH from Col. Myron McDaniels, who is bound for the Ft. McNair Eisenhower School to attend Senior Service College.

A pilot and aeromedical evacuation officer by trade, Almquist is an officer with a wealth of experience who is expected to lead the 212th as it continues its support of the European theater.

"My wife and I are thrilled to be back in Germany and look forward to serving with the 212th Combat Support Hospital," Almquist said. "We have an outstanding mission here. I look forward to continuing to provide world-class battlefield trauma care and hospitalization support to all of (U.S. Army Europe) and our European partners."

Almquist follows in the footsteps of McDaniels who led the effective transformation of the 212th CSH as a pioneer of global medical interoperability when the 30th Medical Brigade aligned with the 21st Theater Sustainment Command last year.

"Brian, you have a dedicated staff, talented commanders and great Soldiers," McDaniels told Almquist in his farewell speech. "You have the tools to expand the hospital's capabilities."
